About the Australian Air League
The Australian Air League is an youth organisation who's prime aim is to develop an interest in aviation in all its members. The Australian Air League first started operation in 1934 under the name 'Air Mindedness development league' but changed to the Australian Air League soon after. Since 1934 the Australian Air League has inspired tens of thousands of young Australians. The Australian Air League now has 70 squadrons all over the country. a list of squadrons can be seen here.


Who Can Join?
Australian Air League Waverley Squadron is open to anyone aged 8 and up in the following categories;

Junior Cadet - 8 to 11 years inclusive
Cadet - 12 to 15 years inclusive
Senior Cadet - 16 to 18 years inclusive
Officer - 18 years and over
The Australian Air League provides the following services for there members

Camps
The Australian Air League operates various camps throughout the year including;
Air Activities camps
Education Camps
Leadership development camps
Training Camps
Duke of Edinburgh Camps


Air Activities
The Australian Air Leagues Air Activities section assists members in gaining CASA approved qualifications and Licences. Through the Air Activities section members can attain qualifications necessary to make aviation their career
Joy Flights
The Australian Air League organises joy flight for our members throughout the year, It is on these Joy Flight that many of our young members experience there first ever flight in an aircraft.


Aero Modelling
The Australian Air League conducts classes on model making, allowing members with a passion for aero modelling to become proficient in constructing;
Balsa Chuck gliders
Kites
Plastic Models
Balsa Models
Control line models
RC Flying models


Educational theory Classes
The Australian Air League operates various educational theory classes such as;
Aviation theory classes
Aero Engines, Meteorology, Theory of Flight, Navigation, Aircraft Radio, Aircraft Construction and much more
Non-aviation theory classes
Electronics, Photography, Physics, General Knowledge, Space Flight and much more


Drill
The Australian Air League runs Drill classes for the purposes of developing leadership abilities and promoting self discipline.
The AAL has the following Drill ranks for Cadet members who show good leadership ability

Sports
The Australian Air League runs Athletics and Swimming carnivals as well as ball games competitions to keep our members fit and healthy.
